There is a tranquility to the beach, where the ocean meets the land that has always drawn me to it.

Whitehaven Beach: During a break in the COVID19 lockdowns and restricted to travel within our own state only, we trekked to the amazing Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands in June, 2020. This photo is taken from above Hill Inlet looking over the amazing Whitehaven Beach. The turquoise water and pure white sand is breathtaking and unforgettable and perhaps the most iconic shot of the area.

Tongue Bay Looking Inland: During a break in the COVID19 lockdowns and restricted to travel within our own state only, we trekked to the amazing Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands in June, 2020. This photo is taken from Tongue Bay looking over the bay towards the mountain range, with two tour boats in the distance, anchored waiting for the bushwalkers to return for lunch.

Sunshine Beach Rainbow: On a rainy weekend a while ago, I was walking along a nature walkway between headlands in the Sunshine Beach area, and through a break in the scrub spotted the left hand end of a rainbow over the ocean.

Rosslyn Bay from Wreck Point Lookout: Rosslyn Bay boat harbour is the place where the ferry across to Great Keppel Island departs from.

Magnetic Island Picnic Bay From Mainland: When I was in Townsville with my family in mid-2020 between lockdowns, I took a shot of Picnic Bay, which used to be the ferry terminal jetty before Nelly Bay was developed. I first visited Picnic Bay in 1992 when I was in Townsville for a Chess Tournament and didn’t get back until 2009 and was shocked at how run down the waterfront was. Still looks beautiful from a distance though.

Magnetic Island: Having spent months working on Magnetic Island I’ve become very fond of it, just off the coast of Townsville. This photo was taken from the top lookout of Castle Hill in downtown Townsville, looking over the bay to Magnetic Island. Taken in July, 2020.

Hamilton Island From Shute Harbour: Hamilton Island is by far the most populated of the Whitsunday Islands and we spent 5 days there in 2012. It’s a wonderful place to visit. This photo is taken from far away on the mainland at Shute Harbour.

Golden Beach: The Glasshouse Mountains much clearer with less pollution due to lockdowns, as seen from near Golden Beach at Caloundra. Note Bribie Island’s Northern-most tip and sandbar between the buildings and the headland vantage point.

Esk Island Whitehaven Beach: This photo is taken from above Hill Inlet looking over the bay towards the Esk Island, East of Whitehaven Beach.

Double Cone Island From Airlie Beach: Taken from Airlie Beach, as in the beach itself, looking out to Double Cone Island. From this angle it looks like a single island but is in fact two separate islands, hence the name.
